Tropical Storm Otto Forms

You may have noticed that I haven’t done a “This Week in Tropical Weather” post since Hurricane Matthew/Nicole. Well, that is easily explained by the fact that literally nothing else has happened since then.

Hurricane Matthew made his close approach to Florida, and then the Atlantic went to sleep (basically). It has now sort of woken up, as Tropical Storm Otto has formed in the far southern reaches of the Caribbean sea. He formed late Sunday night/early Monday morning, and began to strengthen to the point he is at now. Otto has largely remained nearly stationary, only moving slightly to the south since he developed.

Otto is currently a strong tropical storm, with winds around 70 mph. He is expected to become a hurricane by this evening, and then make landfall in near the Costa Rica and Nicaragua coast by Thanksgiving day.
