Real-time Bowling Green Weather Radar

Yesterday’s Weather

Yesterday was another really nice day in the line of nice days that we have seen going all the way back to the beginning of last week. Highs only jumped into the mid 80s, and skies were mostly sunny across the region. It was just really nice, and was capped off with a very nice sunset.

Discussion

Well, if I am being honest, the next few days look fairly uninteresting locally. There isn’t a ton that goes on, mainly due to a pesky ridge that builds into the region.

What a surprise! When the pattern get boring like this, it just makes me sad with local meteorology. I would like a storm or two, or a forecast challenge like last week was. But with this? Not too bad.

The ridge has built into our region, and is being amplified by a trough that is moving into southern Canada. This is keeping out weather fairly maligned across the region as the ridge keeps anything from really happening across the lower Ohio Valley.

This looks to remain out driving factor in terms of our sensible weather until Friday night when the trough finally begins to propagate towards our region. Between now and then, though? Not much looks to happen.

We are looking at mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies across the region all three days, with highs ranging from the lower 80s on Friday to the mid 80s today and tomorrow. Its a truly nice forecast, as the humidity across the region is gonna stay low, so any evening activities outside are looking fantastic.

Overall, the forecast is a fairly simple one, and looks fairly nice across the next few days. Overnight conditions will feature partly cloudy skies and lows in the upper 50s for tonight and tomorrow night. By Friday night, though, we’ll be looking at the potential for showers as the trough bringing our next cool down will also likely bring out next shot at rain.

Extended Outlook

As was the case yesterday, the large wrench in the forecast is the timing of the trough across the central plains, and the eventual track of Hurricane Matthew. Hurricane Matthew doesn’t look as if he’ll take a track that will effect us, even with clouds. However, his presence in the models inherently makes them struggle just a bit more, so long range forecasting is tough. There are still pretty strong signals at a cool down this weekend, but not one as strong as may have been anticipated. We will keep watching it!
