Well, that was a fun ride. Bowling Green got in on a mesoscale snow band during the morning hours yesterday, which led to copious amounts of snowfall. All in all, here is a summary of snow totals published by the National Weather Service in Louisville, KY.

This snow pack will greatly affect the weather over the coming days. Today, mostly sunny conditions should be in the area throughout the day. Highs will be around 31°.

Tonight, mostly cloudy skies will develop. This will help keep temperatures above 0°, however the forecast low of 6° is not much better.

Sunday 1/24 – Mostly Cloudy – High 33° / Sun Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 26°

Upper level ridging will set in on Sunday. This will bring an area of relatively high pressure with it. This will result in southerly surface winds, helping Bowling Green thaw out some. Mostly cloudy skies can still be expected across the region with a high around 33°.

Southerly surface winds will continue on Sunday night. This will lead to temperatures not quite as cold on Monday night. Lows will be around 26° on Sunday night.

Monday 1/25 – Partly Cloudy – High 46° / Mon Night – Scattered Showers – Low 36°

On Monday, an area of low pressure to the west of the region will continue to move to the east. Partly cloudy skies can be expected, as well as warmer temperatures due to southerly winds at the surface and mid levels. Highs will feel great after the bitter cold. Expect that high to be in the mid 40s across the region.

The cold front associated with the aforementioned low pressure system will continue to move east in the evening hours. Scattered showers will develop along the cold front as it moves through Monday night. Lows will drop into the mid 30s after the cold front moves through. The low set on Monday night will likely be the high for Tuesday as temperatures plummet throughout the day.
