Weekend Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green radar:

Today 12/26 – Fog possible; Cloudy & Rainy – High 72/Tonight – Cloudy; chance scat’d rain showers – Low 65

Good morning! If you’re not already water logged, don’t worry – you’ll have another day to get that way. A warm front will be moving up from the south and bringing warm, moist air into the region along with rain showers.

Surface analysis valid 6am Saturday (NOAA)

The weather will be in a crazy pattern over the next few days with back to back frontal systems moving in, stalling out, and giving us even more rain. Be mindful of flooding in low-lying areas and drive safely if you are out and about!

Sunday 12/27 – Cloudy; chance scat’d showers – High 72/ Sunday Night – Cloudy; scat’d showers – Low 55

The frontal system looks to stall out on Sunday providing enough lift for rain showers throughout the day. Southerly winds and upper-level ridging will keep temperatures warm. The temperature gradient is very noticeable at the surface where these two fronts are battling it out. If you want cooler temperatures, just drive a couple hours north!

Surface temperatures valid 12pm Sunday (Pivotal Weather)

Once the front starts to progress eastward, we will see a slow drop in temperatures in the days to come. Finally!

Monday 12/28 – Cloudy & Rainy – High 67/Monday Night – Cloudy with rain showers – Low 43

A cut-off low in the upper levels will be moving eastward on Monday and could be just the right addition to all this warm air and moisture to give us more thunderstorms. We could see more damaging winds, lightning, and possibly hail with this system.

NAM 300mb heights & wind valid 3pm Monday (Pivotal Weather)

Of course, check back with us for an update on this system and its potential impacts. Until next time, have a fantastic Saturday and enjoy the rest of the Holiday break!
