The central plains are used to seeing their fair share of extreme weather. Here recently, an ice storm took place, encasing the entire region in ice. After experiencing the crippling 2009 ice storm here in Kentucky; I’m confident it will take a week or more to repair utilities across the region. Take a look at some of the photos and video of the damage.

This should serve as a reminder that winter weather is likely right around the corner. Although the seasonal outlook may promote “warmer” and “drier” conditions, it does not indicate one or two major winter storms won’t be possible.
