Dear Employees of the NWS, NHC, WPC, SPC, CPC, and associates:

Thank you. Thank you for all that you do. As we know here at WxOrNotBG, weather doesn’t stop. It doesn’t respect holidays or traditions, times of the year, seasons, or feelings. The weather is always in motion, and will stay in motion. And you all are there to protect the public. Whether it is Christmas or July 4th, you’re in your offices, forecasting away to serve and protect the public, and you don’t get enough gratitude.

You all are some of the best meteorologists in the entire world, and you willingly sacrifice time with family and friends to forecast and issue warnings (when necessary) for the public. Just this past week, there was a major ice storm and flooding event in Texas and Oklahoma, and you all were there. You updated forecasts, and let emergency managers know how to handle it all to protect the public better. You left laughter, fun and delicious Turkeys back in your homes, and you dedicated your time and talents to serving the public. Thank you.

Thank you for the simple forecasts, or the 9 days in a row without a day off that you may work. Thanks for the 3 am tornado warning you occasionally issue, and the lives it may save. We all know you’d rather be at home asleep. Thank you for family event you may have had to miss, or the sleep that you won’t get. Thank you.

As we are now entrenched in the holidays, I just want all of you to know just how thankful we are for the sacrifices. Thank you for every Christmas party you’ll miss to forecast a winter storm, or the New Year’s party you’ll miss to work the overnight shift. Thank you for working tirelessly, around the clock, all year, to protect the public from hazardous weather.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Happy New Year to you all.

Sincerely,

Pierce Larkin, and the forecasters at WxOrNotBG.
