Potentially Catastrophic Hurricane Patricia To Impact Mexico

Over the past couple days, we have seen Hurricane Patricia churn over the eastern Pacific. Only, the last time we updated you about it, it only had winds of 130 mph, and was a Category 4 storm.

Now, it has continued to explosively develop into a very dangerous, Category 5 storm with winds of 200 mph. 200 MPH!! The central pressure is down to 880 mb, which is the lowest on record for the NHC’s coverage area. They said, “[the observed surface winds]…were near 175 kt. This makes Patricia the strongest hurricane on record in the National Hurricane Center’s area of responsibility (AOR) which includes the Atlantic and the eastern North Pacific basins.”

They are expecting Patricia to continue strengthening before making landfall later today. The hurricane is one of the most spectacular sights I have seen in meteorology this year. It’s a very symmetric storm, and the cloud tops are very tall, and cold. I am honestly stunned at this hurricane.
