Your Fantasy Football Forecast

The NFL season is quickly approaching, which means that we get to all play fantasy football again! I am actually in a league this year, so my own forecasts will actually help me out. Anyways, many of you love fantasy sports, so this is your weekly guide to what the weather will be like for your teams. A couple weeks ago, I did an overview of the climatology of NFL cities and what to expect going into the season for them. This is the weekly form of that, game by game.

What I will do is give the game, the time and then a bit of commentary on the game itself. The link that is within the game title itself is a link to the nfl.com preview. Then I will give a brief overview of why I made the forecast I did. The gametime forecast will then follow, and I will have scale of 1-10 on the odds that the weather significantly impacts your players (1 being the least and 10 the most).

Cincinnati @ Baltimore; 12:00 PM

Of course the defense I ended up with is 0-2.

That is just my luck. I think I would rather watch paint dry than watch this game. I don’t like either of these teams. Plus, why watch this when you can watch much better games? Who knows. The weather is gonna be…pretty iffy. A broad low pressure system to the south of Baltimore will be throwing moisture northward, but showers should be isolated with cloud cover a likelihood.

Gametime forecast: Cloudy, with scattered showers moving through the region. Temps should stay in the low ot mid 70s. Weather impact: 3/10 due to rain chances.

Oakland @ Cleveland; 12:00 PM

HOW DID CLEVELAND WIN LAST WEEK?

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

I am gonna praise them in this post because it might make them lose. I need them to lose because I (unfortunately) have a player on Oakland’s team who has actually done well for me. So yeah….Cleveland!

Weatherwise, it isn’t looking that great. Kickoff may feature some rainfall, but it shouldn’t be too crazy.

Gametime forecast: Look for showers to be moving out, with skies getting to partly to mostly cloudy stages. Temps in the upper 60s. Weather impact: 5/10 due to rainfall.

New Orleans @ Carolina; 12:00 PM

Yeah….you’re gonna wish this game was in New Orleans if you have players in this one.

h/t giphy.com

The weather is looking really, really crummy across the region. The same tropical low pressure system will be streaming moisture in the region, and will keep clouds and showers pretty consistent through the game.

Gametime forecast: Cloudy, with on and off showers throughout. Temps shouldn’t make it out of the 70s. Weather impact: 4/10 due to showers.

Atlanta @ Dallas; 12:00 PM

DOME ALERT. I love doing that thing. Its kinda like the EAS system with me. That noise just starts going off in my head, but it just says “DOME ALERT” a bunch of times.

Anyways, fantastic weather is always found in your friendly neighborhood dome game. If you have players in this game, then you are in luck. The weather won’t be an issue.

Gametime forecast: 100% chance of a football game. No weather impact.

Tampa Bay @ Houston; 12:00 PM

Well, would ya look at this? Another game in a dome. Well hot dog, its gonna be a good day, I reckon!

Now that I am done talking like I am from Texas (totally inaccurate), this is seriously awesome. I think it might be luck, or maybe it is just that they happen to line up in the Google schedule that I use. Either way, it works out well for me. You can almost guarantee that your players won’t be impacted by weather. Unless the dome collapses, which has happen (but probably won’t).

Gametime forecast: An scattered chance of a Jameis Winston interception. No weather impact.

Indianapolis @ Tennessee; 12 PM

This is another game that I don’t get. How does Indianapolis, who has the next mastermind QB apparently, go 0-2 in their first two games?

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

I mean…come on. Tennessee has this one in the bag! It’ll be iffy here, too, on Sunday. That same low that is effecting almost everyone in the eastern portion of the country will be effecting this game too. Look for clouds and isolated showers.

Gametime forecast: Mostly cloudy, with isolated shower. A bit warmer. Temps should rise into the lower 80s and stay around there. Weather impact: 3/10 for the shower chance.

Jacksonville @ New England; 12 PM

UPSET ALERT.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

I don’t care where it is, or who it is against, I am going to call for a New England upset until they are upset! I am determined. Unlike the rest of the 13 colonies, the weather actually looks nice for gametime here. There may be some high clouds, but other than that, it looks nice.

Gametime forecast: Mostly sunny, with temps staying in the low to mid 70s. Weather impact: 0/10.

San Diego @ Minneapolis; 12 PM

Annnnnnd it’s another dome game! This is the greatest stretch in all of football history, or at least in my history of doing these forecasts.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

Maybe an exaggeration? Who knows. Either way, I’m excited about this one. It’ll be nice in warm for the folks going out to the game, as it’ll likely be in the 70s inside the weather controlled dome! I just really like forecasting for domes…

Gametime forecast: So nice that you won’t believe it’s real. Because it kind of isn’t. No weather impact.

Philadelphia @ NYJ; 12 PM

How on Earth are the Jets 2-0??

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

This is an abomination, and needs to be stopped ASAP. This can’t happen. Go Eagles. To NYC’s south, there will still be that upper level low spinning on around itself. This’ll throw some cloud cover towards the north, but precip chances shouldn’t be too high.

Gametime forecast: Cloudy, with a slight chance of an isolated shower. Temps in the upper 60s. Weather impact: 2/10.

Pittsburgh @ St. Louis; 12 PM

Da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-dome!

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

I’m getting ridiculous at this point. The Rams better perform on Sunday, though. I am counting on them. They are my team. They’ll be playing in awesome conditions inside, and that should push them over the hump against Pittsburgh. GO RAMS!!!

Gametime forecast: A RAMS WIN!!! No weather impact.

San Francisco @ Arizona; 3:05 PM

Hahahaha here we are, at another dome. Or at least, it’s a dome if the weather is bad. Either way, we will consider this a dome game.

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

I don’t know who to pick for this game. The great equalizer (weather) isn’t really a factor here, so who knows what will happen. I don’t have any fantasy ties here, either. That makes this game a lot better, because I don’t really have to care about the outcome. I hope for a tie.

Gametime forecast: Cardinals and 49ers playing. No weather impact.

Buffalo @ Miami; 3:25 PM

I’m all in on Buffalo now. They may not have beaten New England last week, but by golly, they’re gonna take the Dolphins by storm!

h/t giphy.com
h/t giphy.com

I tell ya what, Buffalo will at least be in a nice climate this week! It does look like, however, there is a decent chance at some scattered storms, plus some hotter temps in the region.

Gametime forecast: Partly cloudy, with a chance for a scattered storm. Temps in the upper 80s. Weather impact: 5/10 due to heat and a storm chance.

Chicago @ Seattle; 3:25 PM

Ahh, it is the battle of the 0-2 teams. If you had Seattle going 0-2 to start the season, raise your hand. *no one raises their hands*

Anyways, the weather in Seattle is looking just about as boring as our weather has been recently. I mean boring. It is looking really nice, as they’ll be firmly established within an area of high pressure.

Gametime forecast. Super nice, with mostly sunny skies. Temps in the low to mid 60s. No weather impact.

Denver @ Detroit; 7:30 PM

Ha! Another dome game. I actually have a lot of stock in this game. I need Peyton Manning to throw for about 5 million yards and 200 touchdowns. As long as that happens, I will be happy.

That is unlikely. However: the weather will be good, because it is inside. No factor there! Maybe the Lions can actually live up to their potential for once…

Gametime forecast: Another Detroit letdown and a Peyton Manning touchdown storm. No weather impact.

Kansas City @ Green Bay; 7:30 PM

Final game of the week. I am excited about making it to this forecast. FINALLY. It is looking like a nice cold front is gonna move through early in the day, but shouldn’t impact the game too much. High pressure will move in, and should provide with nice conditions.

Gametime forecast: Partly cloudy, with temps in the upper 60s. No weather impact.
