The Weather Week In Review: 8/9-8/15

Here at WxOrNotBG, we have begun to implement a new post every Sunday evening previewing the week ahead. In light of that, I am going to begin posting a review of the previous week each Saturday night, highlighting the major events that occurred, etc. So, with that being said, here is your *cue awesome music* WxOrNotBG Week in review for August 9th through the 15th.

To be honest, this will be a bit shorter than other segments of this weekly post. Why, you may ask? Well, I will ask you: what happened last week? Seriously. It rained really hard on Saturday. Other than that, it was INCREDIBLE.

That doesn’t mean I still don’t have other stuff to write about, though! I mean, what would I have done last semester when there were loooooong stretches of really boring weather?? I mean, we had weeks where the forecast consisted of “Cloudy, with a high of…”, and that was it. Honestly? It was nothin’.

So, on Monday, a cold front began to sag southward into a warmer, and more moist environment. This caused some thunderstorms to fire up across the region from the morning hours into the afternoon. This lead to heavy downpours, and nasty weather.

Let me say, though: after that, it was smoooooooth sailing until Saturday.

The Tuesday through Friday stretch of weather was easily one of the best that we have seen since springtime. Easily. Highs were in the 70s some, low 80s at the most. Dewpoints were low, and you have the cumulus clouds that couldn’t do anything other than sit there and look pretty. The days were a very nice tease of some of the best aspects of fall.

With seasonably cool temperatures, all of the fall lovers got their hopes up in hope that fall would replace summer. Bummer. The state saw temperatures warm back up by Saturday, and this led to some stronger storms forming across the region.

Luckily, the only major impacts we felt were heavy rain and occasional lightning.

And, that really is about it for the past week. There isn’t much more that I can say about it!
