The Week Ahead

Over the upcoming weeks we’ll be implementing a new Sunday night post to get you ready for ‘the week ahead.’  We’ll give an overview of the upcoming weather pattern to keep you informed on what you can expect when that morning alarm sounds off.  I’m so excited, y’all…

Mon 7/6   [Wake up: 68˚ High: 87˚]   Patchy fog will be possible tomorrow morning, but outside of that, we shouldn’t have too much to worry about. A typical summer afternoon storm chance will linger (we could really use some rain…*eyeroll*), but the vast majority of us will stay dry.  Winds out of the south will send afternoon temperatures to the upper 80s.

Combine this with dewpoints in the 70s, and we’ll have the needed ingredients to make the great outdoors feel like a microwaved loaf of bread.

Tue 7/7   [Wake up: 70˚ High: 88˚]   A cold front will approach from the northwest, increasing our rain & storm chances as the day progresses.  Our best rain chance at this point in time looks to be highest during the evening and overnight hours.

Although not impressive, parameters available in the atmosphere could fire off a few strong/marginally severe storms.

The SPC has included south central Kentucky in a Marginal Risk for severe weather Tuesday night, with a 5% probability of at least 58mph winds and/or 1″ diameter hail taking place within 25 miles of you:

Wed 7/8  [Wake up: 72˚ High: 87˚]   The cold front is expected to stall out over the area, as disturbances ride along it.  This will create scattered shower and storm chances through our hump day, before the boundary shifts back north of the area…

Thu 7/9 & Fri 7/10  [Wake up: ~70˚ High: ~90˚]   With the northerly shift of the front, southerly winds will take back over.  Hot and humid conditions will be a nuisance, keeping robust, isolated storm chances around during the afternoon and evening.  Expect heat index values to flirt with the century mark as we end the work week on a scorching note.
