Storms Possible in Bowling Green Weather

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

Today 4/19 – AM Showers; Isolated PM Thunderstorms – High 73° / Tonight – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 59°

Widespread showers are moving through the region this morning. These look to end around the lunchtime hour, however some may linger into the early afternoon. Partly cloudy skies may develop in the wake of this rain, allowing for temperatures to rise into the mid 70s.

Any additional sunshine will add instability to the air mass in place as we warm up. Due to this, as well as a nearing cold front, some additional thunderstorms may form during the evening hours across south-central Kentucky. The HRRR model seems to agree that isolated thunderstorms may form to the west of Bowling Green around 6 PM.

The severe weather threat looks low, but is non-zero. Gusty winds, lightning, heavy rain, and maybe a brief tornado is possible with storms that form during the evening. As of now, the Storm Prediction Center has placed a “Marginal” risk of severe weather across the region.

Additional isolated thunderstorms may form this evening as a line of storms weakens as it moves in from Missouri and Arkansas. Isolated severe weather is possible as well. Lows will be around 59°.

Monday 4/20 – Partly Cloudy; Isolated Showers and Storms – High 66° / Mon Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 45°

Monday should bring partly cloudy skies to the region as the storms move to the east of the region. A secondary cold front will swing through the region during the late afternoon hours that may cause enough lift for some isolated showers and thunderstorms once more. However, severe weather is not anticipated at this time. A high around 66° can be expected. Shocker, rainy is the best term to describe Bowling Green weather now.

Monday night will bring partly cloudy skies and a quick drop in temperatures down into the mid 40s.

Tuesday 4/21 – Partly Cloudy – High 66° / Tue Night – Scattered Showers – Low 50°

High pressure settles in south of the region on Tuesday. This will help give us a weak southerly surface flow that will help keep those temperatures mild. Partly cloudy skies seem reasonable given the relatively dry air in place. Highs will be in the mid 60s.

A very weak area of low pressure may develop on Tuesday evening in response to a mid level jet streak to the north of the region. This may kick off some scattered showers across the region. Lows will be around 50°.
