Rain, Rain, And, Yes, More Rain

Real-Time BG Radar:

This Afternoon: Mostly cloudy, with on and off showers/storms. High of 70ºF. Tonight: Mostly cloudy. Low of 60ºF.

I feel like it has rained for a thousand years. I don’t care if we had the nicest weekend in a long time this past weekend. The fact that this week has been rainfall after rainfall has just become depressing. This morning was no different. An area of heavy rainfall and thunderstorms moved through the region this morning, producing flooding and very cool cloud structure.

Anyways, this afternoon should actually feature some sunshine moving into the area! Now, this is no guarantee as this week has been full of forecast difficulties, and this is no different. While there are some pretty significant breaks in the clouds moving overhead, the HRRR is forecasting the redevelopment of clouds and thunderstorms as we head into the evening hours.

Be sure to watch for that as you head into your evening plans, as some little league games around the area could be cancelled. If we do get sustained sunshine, look for the afternoon to be muggy and warm, with temps getting into the low and mid 70s.

As we head into the overnight hours, clouds look to build back in, keeping temperatures fairly warm across the region, with temps only falling into the lower 60s. An isolated storm or two is possible.

Friday: Partly to mostly cloudy, isolated chance of rain. High of 74ºF. Friday night: Increasing clouds, with isolated showers. Low of 59ºF.

Well, today looks…kinda nice! Well, relatively speaking. I mean, seeing the sun is always a positive when we haven’t seen it since Sunday. For once this week it doesn’t appear as if a small wave of energy will spark off morning convection tomorrow. However, we’ve seen whats happened so far this week.

So for now, expect skies to be partly to mostly cloudy across the region as we move into the day Friday. This will allow temps to rise into the mid and possibly upper 70s across the region.

As long as we can avoid rainfall for once this week, it should be nice. Additionally, some models are showing the cloud cover that we have decreasing pretty nicely by the time we get to sundown across the region. This could lead to some pleasant Friday evenings across the region. Or it could rain again. Both are definitely in play.

As we head into friday night, look for clouds to increase across the region. This shouldn’t yield much rainfall, but will hold overnight lows in the upper 50s.

Saturday: Partly cloudy. High of 79ºF. Sat. night: Increasing clouds, with showers late. Low of 64ºF.

Well, Saturday day looks like the best day of this week by far. We should be in between major systems, and this will give us our best chance at seeing sustained sunshine for at least one day. This has me like…

Look for the skies across the region to end up being partly cloudy, and maybe even mostly sunny for a time during the mid day hours. However, clouds should be increasing across the region as we head into the evening hours, and this will carry us into the overnight hours

These clouds will hang tough, with precip moving into the region by late Saturday night across the region. With clouds and precip encasing the southern KY region, we should see temps only lower into the mid 60s across the region.
