Warmth Is Finally On The Way

Real-time BG radar:

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high of 44ºF. Tonight: Increasing clouds. Low of 34ºF.

This week has been crazy. I am incredibly glad that this winter storm is out of the way. This past week was another week in which met majors and meteorologists across the state got no sleep whatsoever, and it is just exhausting. The past 6-ish weeks of winter have been the Kentucky Basketball of winter. Winter has dominated us, and its not even close. Its 4-0 since January 16th, and won its own title on Wednesday night.

I will warn those looking for a “warm up” right here: the title is misleading. Warm ups typically include sun, and next week looks like it may lack in that.

Saturday does, however, look to be very nice. It is looking like we will be seeing mostly sunny skies across the region, which that reflecting off of the snowpack will make sunglasses sales increase I would imagine.

Temps will rise into the mid 40s across the region with the high sun angle, and this will aid in melting a lot of this snow away. As we head into tonight, clouds will be increasing as a weak cold front sags southeastward across the region. And no, this one won’t bring much in the way of precipitation. Lows look to fall into the mid 30s.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy. High of 50ºF. Sunday night: Cloudy. Low of  38ºF.

Sunday just kinda looks…dreary. Sunday doesn’t exactly scream, “Hey, its nice out!”, but when you see the temperature forecast, your mind thinks that it is.

I’m just ready for sunshine and warmth. I even wrote a piece about it a couple weeks ago (Spoiler: Winter didn’t end). Anyways, Today just doesn’t look great. We’ll have residual cloud cover from the weak cold front that moved through, but we will also begin seeing cloud cover increase from the southwest as moisture begins approaching with the next precip maker.

This will help keeps temp down a bit from what they could have been, but hey, I’ll take the upper 40s and lower 50s. May as well break out the tanks and shorts at this point. Sunday night looks like more of the same, with cloudy skies, and lows ending up in the upper 30s.

Monday: Mostly cloudy skies. High of 53ºF. Monday night: Cloudy, with isolated showers. Low of 43ºF.

Well, the weather maker I spoke of for Sunday will slowly, but surely be making its way towards us Monday. Thus, clouds will becoming thicker and thicker, and highs will actually reach the mid 50s.

What are the mid 50s, you ask? Something we haven’t seen often in a while. I mean, we hit the mid 60s last Tuesday. But we can’t count that because everyone knew a winter storm was coming. I mean, maybe I can describe the feeling of the 50s, but I can’t do it justice. We finally see them (for sure) on Monday.

By Monday night, we will see isolated showers approach the region. It looks fairly light, but nevertheless, temps will stay elevated overnight, only falling into the mid 40s.

Well, thats all I have for you. I hope the models begin showing a better stretch of weather next week, but its looking pretty dull for much of next week. Make sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWx on Twitter for the latest real-time weather. Thanks for reading!
