Real-time BG radar:
Tonight: Rain ending, and becoming mostly cloudy, with fog. A low of 24ºF.
The past 24 hours have been an insane whirlwind in the meteorology world. I feel like I have been running, running, and running with very little stop over the past week. We saw heavy precipitation move into the region overnight and continue into today. The initial freezing rain caused significant travel issues, and even initial power issues.

However, that changed over to rainfall, which has been heavy and has been causing flooding problems across the region. Additionally, this has compacted the snowfall and has caused significant strains on local roofs.

The precip has moved out across the region (luckily), and in its wake we are seeing thick fog move across the region. This, combined with falling temps though the evening, will likely result in travel issues overnight. Watch for black ice if you head out late tonight into Sunday morning. Lows will fall into the low to mid 20s under mostly cloudy skies, meaning refreezing is very likely.
Looking at the day on Sunday, its looking like we’ll see partly to mostly cloudy skies across the region. With the southward advancement of another cold front across south central Kentucky, temperatures will struggle to get much above 32ºF.
Frigid air will work back into the area late Sunday, with hit and miss snow showers possible Sunday night. Little to no accumulation is anticipated. Monday will be much colder, with highs doing all they can to top 20˚. With the colder temps in place, please stay aware of slick spots on roadways. We simply can’t get a break from the freezing temps…
Taking a look ahead, the rest of the work week doesn’t look much better in terms of temps. We look to stay dry through much of the week, with our next system not moving in until we get closer to the weekend. Check out the forecast departure from normal surface temps later this week:
Thats all I have for now. Have a good evening, and make sure to follow @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWx for the latest weather information.
