Watertown, NY is located just to the east of Lake Ontario. Given its location, it is often susceptible to heavy lake effect snow events. Such is the case today and areas to the south of the region. Heavy snow has dumped high accumulations, causing several traffic problems throughout the region.
The heaviest of the snow continues to fall between Watertown and Syracuse. According to the latest HRRR model run, the snow could continue once again this evening.
