Snow Chances Return

Real Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Partly Cloudy – High 58° / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 30°

We’ve got mostly clear skies across the region this afternoon. However, some of the hi-res models are picking up on a few clouds drifting through the region in the late afternoon hours. Thus, we’ll go with partly cloudy skies for the remainder of the day. Take it in, as this may be the last unseasonably warm weather day we have for a while. It’s perfect conditions to take your kid(s) to the park.

Temperatures are already in the mid 50s across the area. The temperature may rise a couple additional degrees before decreasing in the evening hours. Partly cloudy skies will remain possible overnight with a low around 30°.

Thursday 1/22 – Mostly Cloudy – High 44° / Thur Night – Mostly Cloudy – Low 31°

A trough will be situated west of the area on Thursday. This will promote lift across the area, which will produce widespread clouds across the region. Mostly cloudy conditions look to stick around through much of the day on Thursday. Highs will only make it to around 44°.

…lucky for you, you read this post.

Thursday night will bring cloudy conditions back once more. A few sprinkles can’t be ruled out from time to time. Lows will dip down to around freezing. Below is a depiction of what the radar may look like late Thursday night/early Friday morning.

Friday 1/23 – Rain/Snow Showers – High 37° / Fri Night – Snow Likely – Low 27°

We may be dealing with some very light ice in the early morning hours on Friday. As mentioned, a few sprinkles may be possible late on Thursday with temperatures dipping around freezing. Thus, some patchy ice may be possible. However, we have a more significant story to tell on Friday.

The aforementioned trough will create an area of low pressure to the south of the region on Friday. This low pressure system will spread moisture across the region, resulting in a steady rain across the area throughout the day on Friday. Highs will only make it to the mid to upper 30s.

Sometime on Friday evening enough cold air will filter into the backside of the system, changing over the rain to snow across south central Kentucky. As of now, all the major models are on board with bringing some snow to the region on Friday night. It’s a bit too far out to talk accumulations, but I do think Bowling Green and surrounding areas have a chance at seeing some minor accumulations.
