Snow Chances Late Tonight

This Evening – Partly Cloudy – 32˚↓ / Tonight – Scat’d Snow Showers Late – Low 24˚

6pm 32˚ – 9pm 29˚ – 12am 25˚ – 3am 24˚ – 6am 25˚

Cloud coverage will continue to increase across the region as we progress into the night.  Light northerly winds will help send temperatures tumbling, which will eventually bottom out in the low 20s.

The early morning hours of Thursday will be interesting.  An upper disturbance will push in from the west.  This could bring a round of the white stuff along with it…

Lawdy mercy, someone help her!

Thu 1/15 – Scat’d AM Snow Showers – High 38˚ / Thu Night – Clear – Low 24˚

The latest guidance continues to suggest the potential for a round of scattered snow showers during the early morning hours of our Thursday.  It won’t be much, however, with temperatures remaining below freezing through mid morning, anything that manages to make it to the ground will stick.

As far as accumulations are concerned, it won’t be much (surprise, surprise).  We’re talking a solid dusting at best, if anything…

You’re not the only one disappointed, Will.

These sporadic, scattered snow showers look to take place between 4-10am, meaning we could be looking at issues during the morning commute.

The latest HRRR simulated radar model below is valid for 7am Thursday morning.  It thinks we’ll see scattered snow showers as the disturbance tracks ENE over the Commonwealth:

Any snow that gathers on the ground won’t be there for long.  Temperatures will scamper above freezing by midday, combining with gradual clearing skies to help melt away anything we get.  Our Thursday night looks to be clear and cold, with lows tumbling to the lower 20s.

Fri 1/16 – Sunny – High 45˚ / Fri Night – Clear – Low 29˚

Sunny and much warmer will be the weather story for our Friday.  Southerly flow will help advect a warmer air mass into the region, finally breaking us out of this awful period of dreary conditions.  The following GFS temperature model is valid for Friday afternoon:

Our warming trend will continue into our Saturday, with sunny skies joining highs in the mid 50s.

That’ll getcha out of your chair…

A weak disturbance looks to swing through Saturday night – Sunday morning, bringing with it a slight rain chance.

That’s all I’ve got for now.  As always, stay in touch with @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWx on twitter for the latest real-time weather info.  Have a great day, and remember to travel safely tomorrow morning!
