Wednesday Morning Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green weather radar:

Today 1/14 – Mostly Cloudy – High 34º / Tonight – Scat’d Snow Showers – Low 25º

Good morning, Bowling Green, and happy Wednesday!  On the positive side, you’re halfway through the workweek!

On the negative side… Today will be another cloudy and cold one, as highs will just surpass the freezing mark under mostly cloudy skies.  Oh yeah, we’ve got a chance of that white stuff (SnOw!?!?) late tonight as well.

A rather boring weather pattern will keep precipitation out of the area today, with light, northerly flow inhibiting temperatures to the lower 30s.

The sun may decide to make a minor appearance later on this afternoon,  just to remind us it’s still up there somewhere. Tonight, things will get more interesting.  Plenty of cloud cover will help moderate temperatures, however, lows still look to tumble to the lower 20s  A weak disturbance looks to move in late, potentially bringing snow showers along with it…

Thursday,1/15 – Scat’d AM Snow Showers – High 40º / Thursday Night – Mostly Clear – Low 25º

The last few model runs have spontaneously produced scattered snow showers that look to enter the forecast area around 3-4am, and last well after sunrise.

The 4km NAM model below loops every 2 hours from 3am – 11am Thursday morning.  This should give you a better idea of how this may behave:

Although temps are anticipated to top out near 40˚ Thursday afternoon, we stand a chance at seeing minor accumulations from this weather maker Thursday morning.  By minor, I mean anything from a dusting – 1/4″…if anything at all.  Snow that does stick won’t be around for long.  Travel safely on the Thursday morning commute.

Gradual clearing should lead (fingers crossed) to us experiencing a return of sunshine by late afternoon. Surface high pressure will work to decrease clouds as the day progresses, and help bring temperatures just a little bit closer to average.

As for Thursday night, with a lack of cloud cover, lows will drop down to about what they were the previous night. Temperatures look to fall into the mid 20s under mostly clear skies.

Friday 1/16 – Sunny – High 46º / Friday Night – Mostly Clear – Low 28º

This general warming trend will continue into Friday (as well as the weekend!), as temperatures reach the mid 40s for the end of the workweek. Skies will be nice and sunny, due to prevailing high pressure and dry conditions.

While Friday looks to be nice, the best day of the forecast period will be Saturday. Highs will be reaching into the low 50s, thanks to southeasterly flow and sunny skies. It will definitely be a pleasant day to get out and enjoy!
