Tuesday Evening Bowling Green Weather Update

Real-time Bowling Green radar:

Tonight – Mostly Cloudy – Low 23º

6pm 29˚ – 9pm 27˚ – 12am 26˚ – 3am 25˚ – 6am 23˚

Despite an end to the precipitation we have been seeing over the last two days, today shaped up to another dreary day across the region. Ridging at the lower levels of the atmosphere has been effective in ending the precipitation, but an upper-level trough will help retain enough moisture around the region to keep skies mostly cloudy today.

This trough will also help to lock a colder air mass in place and the afternoon high temperatures have topped out in the lower 30s across southern Kentucky today. Mostly cloudy skies will continue tonight as temperatures dip into the lower 20s.

Wednesday 1/14 – Mostly Cloudy – High 33º / Wed Night – Cloudy – Low 25º

Tomorrow’s weather will be very similar to what we have seen today as the lower-level ridge and upper-level trough persist.  Temperatures will only be a degree or two warmer with high temperatures in the lower to middle 30s and low temperatures in the middle 20s. The weather pattern sure looks boring this week..

Thursday 1/15 – Partly Cloudy – High 39º / Thu Night – Mostly Clear – Low 25°

A slightly warmer pattern will begin on Thursday as upper-level ridging combines with surface high pressure to keep things dry and warmer. The pesky clouds we have been fighting all week will quickly move to the east during the early morning hours and high temperatures will make a run at reaching 40º.

A chilly night still looks likely Thursday night as we will finally see an overnight period lacking extensive cloud cover. Mostly clear skies will allow low temperatures to drop into the middle 20s.

The good news is that upper-level ridging is expected to continue into the weekend which will result in warmer temperatures and dry weather.
