Wild Weather for Patriots vs. Broncos

One of today’s most anticipated games in the NFL has gotten a bit more interesting thanks to some wild weather in Foxborough, Massachusetts this morning. A strong area of low pressure is currently situated just east of Massachusetts. This low is responsible for producing some accumulating snowfall at Gillette Stadium today as the Patriots and Broncos get ready to square off.

Around an inch of snow has fallen at the stadium this far. Temperatures remain above freezing so the snow accumulation has been limited to grassy and elevated surfaces. Foxborough may receive another inch or two of slushy snow accumulation before the game kicks off at 4:25pm EST/3:25pm CST. The good news is that by the beginning of the game, most of the heavier precipitation will have moved off to the northeast.

We can expect temperatures in the upper 30s by kickoff with isolated rain and snow showers possible. An even bigger story may be the strong winds pushing in behind this area of low pressure. A wind advisory is in effect for Foxborough today until 6pm EST as sustained winds of 20-30mph with gusts to 50mph are expected this afternoon. Good luck to the kickers out there.
