According to BBC news, 31 bodies have been recovered from Mount Ontake in Japan. 30 more are still missing.
The BBC’s Rupert Wingfield-Hayes, in Tokyo, says:
“It’s not clear why there was no warning of Saturday’s eruption”
According to Japanese scientist, there had been an increase in seismic activity on the Mountain for some time, but not enough to suggest an eruption was imminent.
