As meteorological fall started this past week, many are wondering when the cool down is coming. Here in Bowling Green, we have been experiencing highs in the upper 80s recently, and we even hit a high of 91° yesterday. However, cooler weather is on the way.

The cold front that is currently making its way through our region is just the first relief in the series of cooler weather we have coming. Here is what the Capital Weather Gang had to say about next week’s system:
While our Mid-Atlantic temps are cooling off in the early week, the jet stream is forecast to take a dip south into the lower 48, bringing with it a strong cold front, cool Canadian air, and the first taste of fall weather for much of the central U.S.
As the jet stream plunges south, the northern states will be experiencing very cold temperatures, with several areas falling below freezing for their lows. Some of the northern states may welcome the first taste of winter (and first frost!), so a chance of snow is not out of the question.
#Wintry weather is possible early next week in the northern #Rockies as very chilly air migrates south from Canada. pic.twitter.com/qL2Uj21jJE

With classes and jobs in full swing, I think everyone is ready to welcome the first taste of autumn. According to the latest models, highs next weekend look to be in the lower 70s and even the upper 60s for our area. Anyone aching for a bonfire?

Forecasting this far out can never be taken too lightly, but it is agreed that a definite cool down is coming.
