Big Changes For Bowling Green Weather

Real-Time Bowling Green Weather Radar:

This Afternoon – Mostly Sunny; Iso’d Storms – High 90º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 71º

3pm 90º – 6pm 85º – 9pm 79º – 12am 76º – 3am 74º – 6am 71º

Friday has finally arrived as we log another hot and humid day in the books. Weak upper level ridging and surface high pressure will continue to weaken and work eastward through tonight. This will allow a cold front to work southeastward across the Commonwealth bringing rain and storm chances back into the forecast.

Southerly winds will continue to pump in some low level moisture while dewpoint values rise into the lower 70’s. With the approaching frontal boundary, a few pop up storms will certainly be possible. However, I think most activity will lie right along the frontal boundary to our northwest as most of us should stay dry today.

Otherwise, look for partly cloudy skies tonight as a few scattered storms will be possible. Overnight temperatures will remain mild with lows in the lower 70’s.

Sat – Mostly Cloudy; Storms Likely – High 84º / Sat Night – Mostly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 64º

The aforementioned front will arrive on southern Kentucky’s doorstep by Saturday morning. This boundary will interact with a somewhat unstable and moist environment in which scattered storms will develop. Despite the rainfall for the first part of the weekend, the severe potential looks meager. However, precipitable water values near 1.7” and slow storm motion will provide a heavy rainfall threat with minor flooding being a concern.

A few post frontal showers will be possible into the afternoon and early evening hours before the front finally clears the area. High pressure will settle in behind the front while working southeastward into the region. Drier and cooler air will replace this warm and muggy airmass as a taste of fall arrives.

Any shower activity will come to an end by Saturday night. Partly cloudy skies will hang tough across the region as lows cool off into the mid 60’s.

Sun – Partly Sunny; Comfortable – High 80º / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy, Chily – Low 59º

Sit back and enjoy…because Sunday is shaping up to be a great weather day. As mentioned previously, surface high pressure will dive in from the northwest. You know the drill by now. Much cooler and drier air will filter in across the region as conditions become quite pleasant. Afternoon highs will struggle to reach the 80 degree mark under partly sunny skies.

The evening and overnight hours will keep our first taste of fall running. A few clouds will hang around through Sunday night as high pressure dominates our weather. Temperatures will be chilly as lows drop into the upper 50’s. Either way you slice….it’s going to be awesome!

As Will Smith would say… “Get jiggy with it!”
