WKU vs. Bowling Green State Gameday Forecast

Screenshot 2014-08-27 20.32.24 The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will face the Bowling Green State Falcons to open the 2014 football season tomorrow. The game is set to kick off at 6:30pm CST at L.T. Smith Stadium. On the field this will be a huge match-up for the Tops, and let’s take a look at what the forecast looks like for game time.

A warm front will lift north Friday morning which will allow winds to turn to the south and usher in warm and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. Tailgating will be hot and muggy with an afternoon high in the lower 90s. Remember to stay hydrated if you are outside tomorrow, as these temperatures combined with dew points near 70° will allow heat indices to top out between 95-100ºF.  Skies will remain partly cloudy tomorrow afternoon and evening, so it might not be a bad idea to bring sunscreen if you are out tailgating early.

Tailgate Forecast:

1pm – 90º, Partly Cloudy, Winds S at 5 mph.

3pm – 92º, Partly Cloudy, Winds S at 6 mph.

5pm- 91º, Partly Cloudy, Winds S at 6 mph.

A few pop-up thunderstorms may fire along the warm front around noon tomorrow, but most of us will stay dry. By kickoff, any thunderstorm activity should be off to our north and east. The latest run of the NAM model agrees with this thinking and keeps southern Kentucky dry during the game.

Things will cool down a bit by kick off, but we will still be seeing temperatures in the lower to middle 80s. Winds out of the south will be light tomorrow evening and should have no impact on kicking or punting.

Gametime ForecastAfter sunset we will get some relief from the heat as temperatures will slowly drop into the upper 70s by the end of the game. Southerly winds will become calm overnight, and any fans traveling home will not have to worry about any showers or storms along the way.

Overall, the weather looks great for WKU’s first home game so be sure to come out and help pack L.T. Smith Stadium tomorrow night.

Score Prediction: Western Kentucky 38 – Bowling Green 34
