Although lacking a damaging wind threat, these storms produced rainfall rates at nearly 1.5″/hr, along with frequent lightning. As the cells ‘trained’ over the city, it resulted in widespread flooding and power outages, much like we experienced this past Saturday.

We’ve received plentiful amounts of rainfall over the past few days, however, the heavy rates that have fallen may not have helped our moderate drought conditions very much. With as dry as we’ve been, a good portion of the rain that fell was more than likely runoff. Sad….but the truth, nonetheless. On the bright side…my yard is no longer a dust bowl.
