Air Quality Alerts

Many of the surrounding areas are beginning to see some air pollution issues due to the lack of rain. Here’s todays air quality forecast showing good air quality in unshaded areas, moderate in yellow, and unhealthy for sensitive groups in orange. It is interesting that there is a small pocket of good quality forecasted just to the northeast of us. Maybe it’s the Bowling Green bubble.

Air quality alerts are currently in effect for north central Tennessee and the Louisville area. Other locations experiencing air pollution problems include Maryland, New Jersey, Atlanta, St. Louis, and isolated areas in the west. As of this evening, the nation’s worst air quality index is currently in Chelan, Washington where wildfire smoke is likely to blame.

The reason for the poor air quality in Kentucky and Tennessee is the fact that most of us have not seen rain recently. Bowling Green, Kentucky has not seen a trace of rain since July 27 and we need a good rain to help wash the pollutants out of the atmosphere. Another reason #weneedrain.
