Real-Time Regional Radar:

This Afternoon – Partly Sunny; Pleasant – High 80º / Tonight – Partly Cloudy; Cool – Low 59º

3pm 80º – 6pm 77º – 9pm 68º – 12am 63º – 3am 61º – 6am 59º

We kicked off today with plenty of sunshine and much cooler conditions across southern Kentucky. This cool, dry air mass will settle in the Ohio Valley Region for the next couple of days as temperatures struggle to reach the 80 degree mark.

Earlier this afternoon, stratocumulus clouds begin to work southward bringing partly sunny skies. Look for these pesky clouds to stick around as a weak surface trough pushes through the region. Dry conditions will prevail despite the cloud deck hanging around tonight. No worries though, conditions will be refreshingly cooler and comfortable.

Ahh….That feels good.

Fri – Mostly Sunny; Gorgeous – High 80º / Fri Night – Mostly Clear; Chilly – Low 57º

Surface high pressure will dive across the Central Plains keeping these cooler and drier temperatures in place. Mother Nature couldn’t have worked it out any better than this. Look for mostly sunny skies on our Independence Day with temperatures barely cracking the 80 degree mark.

Mostly clear skies will be on tap Friday night making for a perfect one to view the firework displays. These clear skies with calming overnight winds will set the stage for a chilly night. Temperatures will be unseasonably cool as lows dip into the mid-upper 50’s. Either way, you might need that lighter jacket if you plan on being out late Friday night.

Enjoy…

The aforementioned surface high pressure will begin to work eastward putting our region back into the summer conditions we’re more accustomed too. While skies remain sunny and conditions will be dry, temperatures will become more seasonable as highs reach the mid 80’s Saturday afternoon. Mostly clear skies stick around Saturday night as the holiday weekend remains cool. Once again, lows will drop into the lower 60’s.

A look ahead shows the summer heat and mugginess making a return by early next week. Temperatures will climb back into the upper 80’s Sunday with 90’s making a bold return by early next week. A slow moving upper level trough will cross the Midwest by the end of the weekend as we increase rain chances for Bowling Green by Monday.
