Tropical Update

It’s time to see how 91L has been doing in the Atlantic Ocean today. There has not been much movement and the area of low pressure is currently 230 miles off of the Florida Coast. The National Hurricane Center is now giving this disturbance a 60% chance of development over the next 48 hours and an 80% chance of development over the next 5 days.

The NHC expects the disturbance to become a tropical depression in the next day or two, but it is still up in the air if this low will be able to develop into a tropical storm as there is some dry air nearby that will limit development. Hurricane Hunters were expected to fly into this storm today, but they cancelled their flight and will go tomorrow if necessary.

Models are starting to come to a better consensus regarding where this disturbance will track. Most predict the low continuing to drift southwest before moving up the southeast coast.

It will be interesting to see if this low becomes a tropical depression because even though winds are light, it could produce some heavy rainfall along the coast.
