Tropical Disturbance 91L

An area of low pressure that has formed in the Atlantic Ocean off the southeastern coast off the United States is starting to raise a few eyebrows. The National Hurricane Center has given this disturbance a 40% chance of developing into a cyclone over the next 48 hours, and a 60% chance of developing into a cyclone over the next 5 days.

For now, the low is being referred to as 91L and current model guidance is not coming to any kind of consensus as far as where this disturbance will track.

The Hurricane Hunters will be flying into 91L tomorrow to try and get a better idea of what is going on.  If this disturbance is able to strengthen into a tropical storm, it will be the first named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season and would be Tropical Storm Arthur. This will something to watch over the next few days.
