Rinse and Repeat Forecast

Real-Time Regional Radars:

——————————————————–

Today 5/27 – Isolated Thunderstorms – High 88° / Tonight – Isolated Thunderstorms; Partly Cloudy – Low 67°

Today we’ll continue to see those warmer temperatures as we remain under the influence of winds from the south. More numerous thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening hours. This will be because of our warmer surface temperatures than the past couple of days.

The peak for the thunderstorm activity looks to be around the evening hours. After this, skies should begin to clear out after 1 AM. Like the last few days, thunderstorm coverage will be limited. Thus, not everyone will see rain in their backyard. For example, downtown Bowling Green may see rain, whereas no rain occurs at the airport.

I know, it’s just not fair, is it?

Once the storms clear out of the region, expect nice conditions for our Monday night. Temperatures will be in the upper 60s with winds becoming calm.

Wednesday 5/28 – Scattered Thunderstorms – High 86° / Tue Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 66°

On Wednesday we’ll see a cold front to our north slowly make its way southward. This is much like the setup we had last week, with just a little less instability involved. The front will cause a bit more lift in the atmosphere causing for more widespread thunderstorms to form.

Although the thunderstorms may be more numerous, severe weather is not anticipated. Thunderstorms will contain lightning and heavy rain, and maybe some gusty winds. We’ll expect a general decrease in thunderstorm activity as the sun sets. Another nice evening is in store with lows in the mid 60s and calm winds.

Thursday 5/29 – Scattered Thunderstorms – High 87° / Thur Night – Isolated Thunderstorms – Low 64°

On Thursday we’ll see the aforementioned cold front stall out just to the north of our region. This boundary will be the primary focus for thunderstorm activity. Since, the front never made it far enough south, our temperatures will remain fairly unchanged as well as thunderstorm coverage.

On Thursday, some of the models are insinuating there may be less instability in the atmosphere to work with. This would likely be from the formation of any thunderstorms overnight Wednesday. If this were to be the case, then thunderstorm coverage might actually be a little less. However, for the time being we’ll continue to look for scattered thunderstorms.

As the norm in a summer-like setup, we’ll expect the thunderstorms to decrease in coverage overnight. This is when instability is typically lowest because we have lost the heating effect of the Sun. Instability drives storms, and when there’s no instability there aren’t any storms. Plus, we have the Bowling Green Bubble, right?

Not in my house…
