First and foremost, on behalf of WxOrNotBG and all the contributors for the blog, we wanted to take a moment to say thanks for all who have served or are currently serving in the military. We appreciate all that you do.

One thing has been noticeable on this Memorial Day, and that is the heat. Relatively warm temperatures have taken over Bowling Green this afternoon as humid conditions have added a particular stickiness to the air. Winds from the southwest have not only helped warm our temperatures up, but have also increased our moisture. In return, you get a perfect pool day to cool off.

Now, this pool day could be briefly interrupted. Say what? Unfortunately with daytime heating and this increase in moisture across the area, the atmosphere has a little bit to work with as a weak upper level disturbance tracks through the region. However, this will not be a washout by any means. A brief shower/storm will be possible for the remainder of the afternoon and will be widely scattered at best. Brief heavy rain and gusty winds will be primary threats.

Any storm activity this afternoon will begin to die down due to daytime heating. Any development will diminish through tonight under mostly cloudy skies. Lows will remain mild as temperatures drop into the upper 60’s.

Ok, resume what you were doing.

Tue – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storms – High 87º/ Tue Night – Mostly Cloudy; Stray Storm – Low 66º

Tuesday will offer nearly an identical day when compared to Monday. Highs will be a tad warmer as temperatures reach the upper 80’s. The southwesterly wind component will be light around 5 mph or so but will continue to feed in moisture keeping us hot and humid.

Tuesday afternoon will offer the best chance for scattered showers and storms once again. Daytime heating coupled with a moist atmosphere will lay the ground work for your typical pop-up (pulse) type thunderstorms. As mentioned previously, main threats with any development will remain heavy rain and gusty winds. Look for any activity to die down into the evening hours due to the loss of daytime heating.

Wed – Partly Sunny; Sct’d Storm – High 84º / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy; Sct’d Storms – Low 66º

The upper level ridge will begin to weaken and work eastward allowing a series of disturbances to work through the region. While chances increase for scattered storms Wednesday, any development is not expected to be severe with primary threats remaining as heavy rain and gusty winds. Much like Monday and Tuesday, storms will be scattered in nature as some folks will see rain while others stay completely dry.

One component that will stay the same will be those temperatures. Late week will feature warm and humid conditions as storm chances stick around for Thursday and Friday. It appears that Bowling Green could catch a break for the first part of the weekend before more rain makes its way back into the forecast.

That’s all I have for now, folks. Be sure to stay up to date with all your real time weather info @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWX on twitter. Wishing everyone a great Memorial Day and enjoy!
