Behind this front, temperatures will begin to slowly drop later this afternoon as westerly winds take over. The clouds you see currently to our west will move over our area tonight and we will see mostly cloudy skies as temps drop into the middle 40s. Winds will be breezy with gusts up to 20 mph.

Thu – Partly Sunny; Breezy – High 64˚ / Thu Night – Cloudy – Low 43˚

The upper level low that has been pestering us all week will finally move off to the northeast on Thursday. Check out the latest run of the GFS model which shows our upper level low moving from Western Illinois to the Great Lakes region on Thursday.

Behind this departing upper level low, westerly winds will continue and we will see another day with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s under partly cloudy skies. An upper level trough will nose its way into our area Thursday evening spreading clouds and even few isolated showers but most of us will stay dry.

Fri – Partly Sunny; Iso’d Showers & Storms – High 63˚ / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 46˚

The upper level trough will stay in place Friday limiting our temperatures to the 60s once again. We will see a chance for a few showers during the day Friday, but these will be very light and isolated.

Winds will turn to the southwest by Friday evening which will set the stage for warmer temperatures to move in this weekend. At this point it looks like our weekend will be dry with highs in the 70s on Saturday and Sunday. That’s more like it..
