Nice Weekend, Stormy Horizon

Today 4/26 – Sunny – High 81˚ / Tonight – Mostly Clear – Low 54˚

9am 65˚ – 12pm 76˚ – 3pm 81˚ – 6pm 77˚ – 9pm 66˚

Can’t get enough of this sunny spring weather?? You’re in luck! Thanks to high pressure, we’ll see sunny skies throughout the day. Meanwhile, temperatures will soar into the low 80s.

It will be a great day to get outside and soak up some sun. Golf sounds like a nice idea. Temperatures probably aren’t quite warm enough to go for a swim just yet however (I also don’t recommend wearing pink pants, but hey, I’m no fashion expert)…

Sun – Partly Sunny, Iso’d Showers & Storms – High 84˚ / Sun Night – Scat’d Showers & Storms – Low 65˚

Sunday will start off just where we left off on Saturday, with sunny skies and warm temperatures. It feel quite toasty as high temps aim for the mid 80s. It will be rather breezy though, with southeasterly winds at 10-20 mph.

Unfortunately however, clouds will be on the increase during the afternoon as the next disturbance slides our way. There could even be a few isolated showers or thunderstorms after 3pm, though these are not expected to be widespread.

See the expected surface analysis for Sunday afternoon. Note we will be in the warm sector.

Into the evening and overnight hours, showers and storms will become scattered across the area. Most thunderstorms Sunday night into the early Monday morning, should pose little of a severe threat, but some heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible.

With that said, the latest SPC outlook does include areas just west of Bowling Green in a “slight risk” area for severe storms late Sunday night into early Monday morning.

Day 2 Convective Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center

Mon – Scat’d Showers & Storms, Breezy – High 77˚ / Mon Night – Scat’d Showers & Storms – Low 59˚

By Monday morning, scattered showers and thunderstorms will be ongoing across the region. Some of which could be strong to potentially severe, though that threat remains low for at least the morning hours.

Models seem to like the idea of a break in the rain and storms before yet another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms move in from midday into the afternoon hours. It is during this time frame that severe weather parameters seem to be coming into alignment to create the potential for scattered severe thunderstorms.

While there are still many details to be ironed out, know that confidence is increasing in the potential for severe storms Monday into Monday night. Please stay tuned to @WxOrNotBG for more details as they become available. As you can see below, the SPC has already outlined all of south-central Kentucky under a “slight risk” for severe thunderstorms.

Day 3 Convective Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center

Storms will eventually push east of our region Monday night, allowing for sky conditions to clear somewhat as we move into Tuesday morning. However, on Tuesday, there will again be the potential for scattered severe thunderstorms, especially into the afternoon.

There remains a lot of uncertainty with severe threat on this day as well, but again, know that a heightened potential is there. Again, the SPC has already outlined our area for the potential of severe thunderstorms on Tuesday.

Day 4 Convective Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center

Note, with all these rounds of showers and thunderstorms, there could be a considerable amount of rainfall over the next several days. We’ll have to watch the potential for some areas of flooding. The Weather Prediction Center indicates that our area has the potential to see 2-4″ of rain through next Thursday morning (see below).

That is all for now. Have a spectacular Saturday and stayed tuned to @WxOrNotBG and @WarrenCountyWx on twitter for the latest on the rainfall and severe weather potential for early next week. Thanks for reading.
