Temperatures will fall about as fast as that polar bear today.

Today 3/12 – Scat’d Showers & Storms, BREEZY – High 60˚ / Tonight – Iso’d Rain & Snow Showers – Low 21˚

*Wind Advisory in effect for the entire area from 7am – 7pm today*

6am 60˚ ~ 9am 53˚ ~ 12pm 42˚ ~ 3pm 39˚ ~ 6pm 35˚ ~ 9pm 33˚

A cold front is currently in the process of advancing eastward across the region.  This has fired off scattered showers & storms this morning, which will continue into the afternoon.

Southerly winds this morning will shift out of the northwest as the cold front advances to our east.  Wind speeds are anticipated to amp up to 25-40mph, thus resulting in a wind advisory for all of south central Kentucky.  This will send temperatures plummeting throughout the day.

With temps falling close to freezing around the same time the bulk of the moisture tracks out of the area around sunset, we could see a few snow showers mix in with the rain.  No accumulation is expected, so there’s no need in starting any fights at the grocery store.

The surface model below should give you a better idea of what we can expect today:

Surface Model Valid 6am
Surface Model Valid 6am

Thu – PartlySunny – High 47˚ / Thu Night – Clear- Low 32˚

Canadian high pressure will build in from the northwest as we get into our Thursday.  This will give us partly to mostly sunny skies to enjoy, however, temperatures will be much colder.  Early morning lows in the 20s will only be able to reach the mid – upper 40s late in the afternoon.

Fri – Sunny – High 64˚ / Fri Night – Iso’d Showers – Low 40˚

Return flow from high pressure tracking to our east will grant us with a rebound in temperatures, as rays of sunshine litter the sky.  Outside of that, there really isn’t much to talk about.  Winds will top out between 10-15mph, allowing for temp values to reach into the low – mid 60s.  A more-than-welcomed return to warmer weather after a few days of winter-like conditions.

Welp, that’s it for the time being, friends.  Have a great Wednesday, and be sure to dress warm.  It may not feel like it this morning, but trust me when I say temperatures will plummet 20+ degrees by late afternoon.  As always, stay in touch with @WarrenCountyWx & @WxOrNotBG for the latest in real-time weather information.
