FRIGID

Today 1/23 – Partly Sunny, Scat’d Flurries; COLD – High 15˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low

6am 10˚ ~ 9am 11˚ ~ 12pm 12˚ ~ 3pm 15˚ ~ 6pm 13˚ ~ 9pm 11˚

**Wind Chill Advisory in effect until 12pm today. Wind chills expected to range between -5 and -15 degrees**

Canadian high pressure will build in from the west today, which will help filter northwesterly winds of 15-20+mph across south central Kentucky.  This will suppress temperature values to the lower – mid teens this afternoon, and keep wind chill values at subzero readings through much of the day.  Dress accordingly:

Don’t be surprised if you see a few flurries flying.  It will be of little to no concern.  Please keep an eye out for slick spots on the morning commute.

Fri – Partly Sunny & COLD – High 24˚ / Fri Night – Increasing Clouds, Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 19˚

Trough will remain in place across the eastern CONUS, which will continue to provide a healthy flow of bitter cold air in place.

A mix of sun and clouds will join us throughout the day, with isolated snow showers arriving in the forecast as a quick moving, potent disturbance passes to our northeast Friday night.  Little to no accumulation is expected at this time.

Sat – Cloudy, Iso’d Snow Showers – High 41˚ / Sat Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 22˚

Lingering snow showers will stick around through the early part of our Saturday, with clouds breaking up as we get into Saturday afternoon.  The NAM simulated radar model below is valid for 3am Saturday morning, and suggests the southern edge of this weather maker swiping across the area.  It will need to be monitored closely:

With light southerly low taking shape, temperatures should finally break the freezing threshold, as they navigate into the lower 40s.

That’s all I’m made of this morning, folks.  Zack Leasor will have a post up this afternoon with an update of what the latest data is looking like.  Stay in touch with me @Wx_Or_Not for more frequent updates.  Have a great Thursday.
