Keeping It Cool

Today 1/22 – Sunny & COLD – High 30˚ / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 8˚

6am 11˚ ~ 9am 14˚ ~ 12pm 24˚ ~ 3pm 30˚ ~ 6pm 29˚ ~ 9pm 26˚

Light southwesterly winds will take early morning lows in the single digits to around 30˚ by this afternoon.  Dress WARM for the morning commute, and be aware of slick spots of on the roads.  High pressure is expected to provide partly to mostly sunny skies across south central Kentucky today.  Really not too much to talk about.  Here’s a look at current surface conditions:

Another cold front will track southeast across the area tonight, which will increase our cloud coverage.  This boundary will also filter in another shot of cold air in behind it.

Thu – Partly Sunny, COLD & Breezy – High 20˚ / Thu Night – Clear – Low 4˚

Strong northwesterly winds will pick up as the cold front passes, which will limit Tuesday’s high temperatures to around 20˚.  An arctic high will build in behind this boundary, which will also assist in suppressing our temperature values.  Take a look at the pressure model loop below for a better understanding:

Pressure Loop Valid 6am Thu - 6am Fri

Wind chills are forecast to remain in the lower teens/single digits.  Other than the frigid cold, all looks to remain quiet.  Keep the heat turned up.

Fri – Sunny – High 29˚ / Fri Night – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 21˚

High pressure will keep sunny, cold conditions around throughout the day on Friday, with a weak disturbance introducing isolated snow showers on Friday night.  This doesn’t look to bring too much hassle along with it, however, we’ll need to keep an eye on it.

That’s all I’ve got for the time being.  Stay in touch with me @Wx_Or_Not for more frequent information.  Everyone have a fantastic day.  Thanks for reading.
