Winter Returns

Today 1/15 – Partly Cloudy, Flurries, BREEZY – High 31˚ / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 21˚

6am 26˚ ~ 9am 28˚ ~ 12pm 30˚ ~ 3pm 30˚ ~ 6pm 26˚ ~ 9pm 23˚

Have not received hardly any precipitation this morning.  I haven’t heard of any accumulation reports, as was expected.  Temperature values are below freezing, which means there could be a few slick spots on the road.  All of you morning commuters take note.

We’ll keep chances of flurries in the forecast today, as partly cloudy skies accompanying the region this afternoon.  With any luck, we’ll get some rays of sunshine to penetrate the cloud deck.  Another component worth mentioning will be northwesterly winds.  Constant breezes of 10-20mph are expected throughout the day.  Great.

Thu – Iso’d PM Wintry Mix – High 44˚ / Thu Night – Scat’d Snow Showers – Low 22˚

Long-wave trough will stay in place across the eastern US, which in turn will send multiple upper level waves of energy across our proximity.  The next wave will arrive on Thursday afternoon, and could produce a light wintry mix across our proximity.

As temperature profiles cool through the overnight, a transition to scattered snow showers will be possible.  The GFS precip model below is valid for 6pm Thursday evening:

GFS Precip Model Valid 6pm Thursday
GFS Precip Model Valid 6pm Thursday

Fri – Iso’d AM Snow Showers – High 31˚ / Fri Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 17˚

Lingering moisture will keep a few snow showers around Friday morning, as another wave tracks through.  We look to finally catch a brief break from the action on Friday night, before yet another disturbance arrives on Saturday.

Take the forecast wording for Thursday night & Friday with a grain of salt.  Models are still in somewhat disagreement with what will take place, therefore, this is low-confidence at the moment.  I should have a much better idea tomorrow morning of how things will play out.

That’s all I’ve got, folks.  As always, stay connected with me @Wx_Or_Not for more frequent information.  Everyone have a great day.  Stay safe, and don’t forget to dress WARM!
