Tuesday Afternoon Update

This Afternoon – Increasing Clouds, Iso’d Showers – High 56˚ / Tonight – Scat’d Wintry Mix – Low 25˚

Forecast is pretty much on track up to this point.  A cold front continues to close in from our northwest, which has caused an increase in cloud coverage.  Winds will pick up in response to this boundary, ranging from 15-25mph from out of the southwest.  Iso’d showers are expected to be present ahead of this front, with plummeting temps supplementing a transition to a scattered wintry mix, and eventually light snow as we get late into tonight.  The model below is valid for 2pm, and displays frontal positions and visible satellite:

Wed – Iso’d AM Snow Showers, BREEZY – High 31˚ / Wed Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 18˚

Lingering convective snow showers will hang around through the early part of our Wednesday, which could cause traveling concerns for the morning commute, as temperatures remain well below freezing.  Total snow accumulations shouldn’t amount to much of anything…perhaps a solid dusting.  All in all…not really impressed with this system.  Avoid fighting over bread & milk…you won’t be needing it.

Much colder conditions are slated through Hump Day, as westerly winds of 15-30mph pester Bowling Green and the surrounding area.  As any leftover snow showers diminish by midday, partly cloudy skies will compliment our blustery conditions.  Ridging will take over Wednesday night, giving us partly cloudy skies to go along with lows in the upper teens.

Thu – Partly Sunny – High 44˚ / Thu Night – Iso’d Snow Showers – Low 32˚

A mix of sun and clouds will kick off our Thursday, with increasing clouds expected through the afternoon and evening.  Another disturbance is slated to track southeast across the area, which could produce isolated snow showers in the process.  I still have a few questions regarding how this system will behave, so will hold off on anything accumulation wise until more data becomes available.
