Hurry, get out and enjoy the nice weekend! Don’t get so excited that you forget to open the door on your way out though.

Today 1/11 – Partly Cloudy & Breezy – High 52˚ / Tonight – Mostly Clear – Low 32˚

6am 52˚ ~ 9am 48˚ ~ 12pm 49˚ ~ 3pm 48˚ ~ 6pm 42˚ ~ 9pm 38˚

A cold front will sweep through south-central Kentucky in the early morning hours, taking the rain with it. Rain will quickly move out from west to east before 8am. Behind the front, an area of high pressure will settle into the mid-south which will allow drier and cooler air to filter in from the northwest. It will be breezy behind the front as well with west winds from 10 to 20 mph. A graphical depiction of the exiting cold front and rain and the entering cooler air and high pressure system can be seen below:

Clouds should try to break up during the late morning hours with a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon. It will not feel too bad by early afternoon with some sun and temperatures close to 50. Shouldn’t be a bad early afternoon to get outside (especially compared to earlier this week!).

By mid afternoon however, the cooler air behind the front will be slowly making its presence known and by the early evening hours temperatures will fall into the low 40s. Temperatures will fall to near the freezing mark by Sunday morning. There could be a few locations with some patchy fog early Sunday morning, especially the valleys, if winds die down enough.

Sun – Sunny – High 54˚ / Sun Night – Increasing Clouds – Low 40˚

Sunday will be nothing short of fantastic for January weather. High pressure will remain in control allowing for sunny skies. The return flow around the high pressure will bring in southerly winds and warm temperatures as well. Temperatures will reach the low to mid 50s by the afternoon making it yet another great day to enjoy some time outdoors.

Mon – Scat’d Showers – High 53˚ / Mon Night – Clearing Skies – Low 32˚

By Monday morning, the high pressure system will be departing as another disturbance moves east into the mid-south. This disturbance will bring scattered showers throughout the day. Rainfall amounts currently look to be generally light and by evening, showers should come to an end allowing for clearing skies overnight. Temperatures remain warm for this time of year despite the showers as we again warm to the low 50s.

That’s all for now but I’ll be back tomorrow morning to provide another update. For now try to decide how you’ll spend this nice weekend and then get out and enjoy! As always, keep up to date by following @Wx_Or_Not on twitter. Thanks for reading.
