Tuesday Afternoon Update

 Reaction to depleting snow chances…

This Afternoon – Wintry Mix – High 37˚ / Tonight – Scattered Snow Showers – Low 21˚

3pm 35 ~ 6pm 34 ~ 9pm 33 ~ 12am 30 ~ 3am 26

Forecast thinking hasn’t changed much after reviewing the latest data.  A mix of rain and sleet will be possible through the afternoon, with light, scattered snow showers possible this evening and tonight.  Follow along with the interactive radar below:

Snowfall amounts along and west of I-65 will range from a spotty dusting up to 1″ at best through tomorrow morning, with locations further east toward Columbia, Somerset and Lexington potentially seeing 1-4″ of the white stuff.

It is worth noting that the NWS has cancelled the Winter Weather Advisory that was previously in place for Barren and Allen County.  The latest NAM model has trended further east with the heaviest snowfall, and doesn’t think we’ll get very much.  This can be viewed below.  It is valid through 6am Wednesday:

 Wed – Gradual Clearing, BREEZY – High 32˚ / Wed Night – Clear – Low 19˚

Any lingering precipitation will taper off and make way to partly cloudy skies.  Temperatures will be well below freezing, so a few slick spots will be very possible during the morning commute.  With any luck, we should see a few rays of sunshine poke out through the afternoon.  Don’t be fooled, as temps will be limited to near 30 degrees.

High pressure moving in from the northwest will coincide with low pressure to our northeast and tighten up our pressure gradient.  This will result in blustery, north winds of 15-30mph.  WIndchill values early tomorrow morning could be in the single digits!  Dress to fight the wind and cold tomorrow, folks!

Thanksgiving – Sunny – High 40˚ / Thur Night – Clear – Low 24

High pressure will be in complete control, and give us nothing but mostly sunny skies for Thanksgiving.  Dress warm and stuff your faces!

That will be all for now, folks.  Stay connected with me via Facebook and Twitter for more frequent information.  Have a great rest of your Tuesday, stay safe, and thanks for reading.
