Another Round Of The White Stuff?

Today – Rain, Wintry Mix Likely,  BREEZY – High 37 / Tonight – Gradual Clearing – Low 23

6am 32 ~ 9am 35 ~ 12pm 37 ~ 3pm 35 ~ 6pm 34 ~ 9pm 33

Tricking scenario setting up for us today, weather wise.  A warm tongue of air is surging northeast across central Kentucky, which will cause a changeover from a light wintry mix to all rain by mid morning.  A few slick spots possible on the early commute.  Please take note.  Follow the precip with the interactive radar below:

Main concern for today won’t arrive until this afternoon/evening.  Another round of scattered snow showers look to impact the region, as temperatures plummet through this time frame.  How quickly those temperatures drop will greatly alter our chances at additional accumulation.  If the cold air filtering in can phase with available moisture, we could be looking at dusting-1″ of additional snowfall along I-65.  The further west of I-65 you live, the less likely you are to get anything.

Those located east of I-65 will have the best opportunity at receiving more of the white stuff (1-3″).  The NWS has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Allen and Barren County from 5pm this evening – 9am Wednesday morning.  This system will have a very sharp cutoff point from the snow.  The exact path will continue to be monitored throughout the day.  Any slight change in the track of this system will mean drastic changes to the forecast.  The latest NAM snowfall model, valid through 9am Wednesday, likes the idea of us seeing additional accumulation:

 Wed – Iso’d AM Snow Showers – High 32 / Wed Night – Clear – Low 17

Canadian high pressure will build in from our northwest, playing off low pressure to our northeast, which will give us brisk, northerly winds of 10-20mph.  This will make for blustery conditions across south central Kentucky.

A few snow showers in the early morning will begin to break up and clear out throughout the day.  Rays of sun may be visible, but don’t be fooled.  Wednesday night will be cold and quiet under clear skies.

Thanksgiving – Sunny – High 40 / Thur Night – Clear – Low 22

High pressure will have a firm grasp on the area, giving us nice conditions to indulge on Thanksgiving meals.  Keep the house warm…you’ll fall asleep easier when you get back.

That’s all I’ve got, friends.  Stay connected via Facebook and Twitter for more frequent information.  I’ll be back this afternoon with a much better idea about our additional snow chances.  Have a great day, stay warm, and thanks for reading!
