Wednesday Afternoon Update

As forecast, a cold front is approaching from our west, pumping a moisture rich airmass northeast over south central Kentucky.  Cloud cover has increased across the area as a result, and this trend will continue through the afternoon.  This is illustrated by the model below:

Scattered showers have been tracking east/northeast over the area for the majority of this afternoon, and this should continue as we get into the evening and overnight.  Feel free to track the precipitation with the interactive radar below.

Temps are hanging close to 70 degrees. Not much fluctuation is expected after sunset. The real nuisance will continue to be those southerly breezes of 15-30mph. Rainfall amounts for this event is NOT expected to exceed .50″. So far, measurements have topped our around a few tenths.

High pressure will build in behind the cold front tonight, which should provide mostly sunny skies for our Thursday. Much cooler air will filter in from our northwest, which will suppress highs to the lower – mid 50s tomorrow afternoon. Overnight lows will flirt with the freezing threshold of 32 degrees. Similar conditions look to be in the fold for Friday and Saturday as well.

The forecast seems to be on point, and I’m not expecting any surprises. If you’d like, keep up with more frequent weather information by connecting with me on social media via Facebook and Twitter. I’ll be updating them as usual this evening. Have a great rest of your Hump Day, stay dry, and thanks for reading.
