Scattered Showers & Storms Expected Again Today

Tuck & roll, folks...its all downhill from here.
Tuck & roll, folks…its all downhill from here.

Today – Partly Sunny, Scat’d Storms – High 82 / Tonight – Partly Cloudy – Low 60

7am 65 {} 10am 74 {} 1pm 78 {} 4pm 82

Some areas of dense fog are out there this morning…please take note. Southwest flow will keep an environment conducive for isolated/scattered convective development around for another day, as a mid-level impulse passes across the region. We should see more sunshine than yesterday, which could enhance thunderstorm chances. Severe weather is not expected, however, a few cells could become strong, producing heavy rain, frequent lightning and small hail.

The airmass over us will remain moist & unstable today, with forcing providing the best opportunity at seeing measurable rainfall this morning. Outside of the scattered showers and convection, we’ll keep it partly sunny and tolerable. Follow the precip with the radar below:

Fri – Partly Sunny, Iso’d Storms – High 83/ Fri Night – Partly Cloudy – Low 67

7am 63 {} 10am 77 {} 1pm 82 {} 4pm 85

Another day of partly sunny skies and isolated storms, as southwesterly flow aloft in the atmosphere continues to churn a damp airmass over us here in south central Kentucky.

Sat – Partly Sunny, Scat’d Storms – High 81 / Sat Night – Showers & Storms Likely – Low 60

A surface low will develop over the Midwest on Saturday, sending its associated cold/occluded front across our proximity Saturday night – Sunday. This setup is slated to send precipitation chances on the increase through this time, with the heaviest rain falling during the AM hours of Sunday.

A major cool down will arrive on Sunday, as a much colder, drier airmass works in behind the front. We’re talking highs in the 60s for both Sunday and Monday, friends, along with a brisk breeze to go along with it. Get out the jeans and hoodies!

I’ll continue to keep an eye on the latest data and let you know of any changes. The GFS thickness model below is valid for 4am Sunday morning. As you can see, this run continues to paint sufficient moisture advancing east over our vicinity around this time:

That all I’ve got for you for, friends.  I’ll be back this afternoon with fresh review of our forecast.  Until that time comes, stay dry and enjoy your Thursday.  Ciao!
