More of the same, friends.  Upper ridge will keep very similar conditions around for Friday and Saturday that we’ve experienced today.  This means plentiful amounts of sunshine!  The forecast looks splendid for all of the high school football fans, as well as those attending the WKU game on Saturday.  Be sure to soak it in, as an approaching cold front will increase our cloud coverage Saturday night.

Sun – Scat’d Showers & Storms – High 74 / Sun Night – Isolated Showers – Low 60

A cold front will advance across south central Kentucky, as a shortwave trough digs into the Great Lakes region on Sunday.  The result will be the ridge breaking down, thus making our pattern more active.  This shortwave can be viewed on the 500mb model below, which is roughly 18,000ft up in the atmosphere:

This feature will coincide with a damp airmass that will be in place to fire off scattered showers and thunderstorms.  Severe weather is not expected, as a few parameters will be lacking for any type of organized convection to take place.  High pressure will build in behind the front Sunday night, setting up cooler conditions to start the work week.
That’s all for the time being, gang.  I’ll be back bright and early tomorrow morning with another breakdown of the forecast.  Enjoy the unseasonably warm temps, and thanks for reading!
