A strong clipper system occurred yesterday through the upper Mississippi Valley region to the upper Ohio Valley and into the Mid-Atlantic states. This clipper produced snow in the aforementioned area. Some places in Iowa received up to 7″ of snow throughout the day on Monday. The January 5th snow was a very cold, dry snow, meaning not a lot of moisture had to be in place for accumulations due to the cold air mass.
