Rapid Warm Up Back to Average Temperatures

Good Saturday morning, KY! I hope everyone had a fun and enjoyable Christmas day. I think we can all agree that it was downright COLD! On the plus side, some of us got to enjoy a few flurries. However, this weekend we will see a rapid warm up back to average temperatures.

After Christmas mood…

Nearly 20° Increase Today

Yesterday in Bowling Green we saw a maximum high of 23°! If you thought that was cold, the record lowest maximum temperature for Christmas Day was 10° in 1983! Today, however, is a different story.

With clearing skies back in the picture today, plentiful sunshine will help our temperatures jump nearly 20°! Today’s highs are expected to end up around the mid 40’s.

This is right on target for the average temperature for late December, which is 46°. Overnight lows won’t get as cold either, with temperatures reaching the low 30’s. Still cold, but not as cold as we saw yesterday!

Brief Warm Up for Sunday

Sunday looks to bring us back into more comfortable conditions, at least for winter. A low pressure system from the west will actually swing a warm front through our area, which will pull warmer air from the south and raise our temperatures even more.

Highs on Sunday look to reach the mid 50’s, and along with more sunny skies, will make for a beautiful December day! However, that same system will swing a cold front through later Sunday night and bring a slight chance for some showers.

Sunny skies return on Monday, but temperatures will be knocked back down into the average mid-40’s. These quiet conditions look to linger until midweek when the next rain chance will arrive.

That finishes today’s forecast. Thanks for reading! Follow our live weather feed @wxornotBG, as well as on Facebook, for all your weather updates. Have a great weekend!
