As we start off a new work week, we will have to keep an eye to the sky as we move into Tuesday.

Monday

As you head out the door this morning, the area will be under partly cloudy skies with temperatures right around the 70-degree mark. As we head into the afternoon hours, partly cloudy to mostly cloudy skies will remain overhead with temperatures rising into the lower 90s.

Storm Chances on Tuesday

Storm chances are on the increase heading into Tuesday as an area of low pressure at the surface ejects out of the Plains and into the Ohio River Valley. A cold front will accompany this surface low pressure and it will be the main feature to spark of showers and thunderstorms across the area during the afternoon and evening hours.

Forecast for Tuesday! (NWS)

Storms that will develop along and ahead of the cold front could be strong to severe. Strong, gusty winds and flash flooding will be the primary threats with these thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center has already issued a slight risk, 2/5 for our area! (SPC)

Ahead of the cold front, a lot of warm, moist air will stream into the area from the south. Temperatures around the area will rise into the middle 90s with dew point temperatures in the low-to-middle 70s. Heat index values will likely exceed Heat Advisory Criteria which is when the heat index exceeds 105 degrees for more than two hours. Areas to our west have already issued heat advisories, this will be something to keep an eye on especially heading into Tuesday.

Wednesday

The cold front will pass through the area and high pressure will settle into the area on Wednesday which will result in quiet weather. Temperatures will be relatively cooler, being in the upper 80s with partly sunny skies.
