Beat the Heat

High pressure has glided its way into the midwest, which will help keep our weather clear, dry, and hot.

With sunny skies and calm winds, afternoon temperatures will reach around 90ºF. If you need to take care of any outdoor activities or yard work, the best time to do so will be early this morning or this evening. By 7pm tonight, temperatures will be ranging from upper 70s to lower 80s.

Skies will remain clear overnight, as temperatures eventually drop to around 67ºF. The low temperature typically occurs just before sunrise, so it will still be in the low 70s during the midnight to 4am time frame.

Same Forecast for Sunday

Not much change in the forecast as the high pressure will still be around, but moving off to the east.

Winds will remain light and variable under mostly sunny skies. Afternoon temperatures will once again be hot, reaching around 92ºF. Thanks to high pressure, we should stay dry as pop-up afternoon storms are not expected.

As the sun angle diminishes, temperatures will gradually begin to fall as well. Expect Sunday evening to be in the mid to upper 70s, eventually falling overnight to around 72ºF. Clouds will be on the increase  Sunday night, which will help keep temperatures just a tad warmer on the surface.

Start of the New Work Week

Monday: A cold front is expected to approach the area on Tuesday, but will increase moisture in the air ahead of the front. Higher dew points along with afternoon temperatures around 92ºF could make heat index values skyrocket to the 100º+ range. Will have to keep close eyes on how this forecast evolves. Otherwise, we may see a few pop up showers and storms, but best chances come on Tuesday.

Tuesday: The cold front is expected to pass through on Tuesday, bringing with it the chance of seeing some strong storms across the Ohio Valley. 90ºF+ temperatures along with high dew points will make for another muggy day with heat index values near 100ºF. However, afternoon storms should provide some relief from the heat Tuesday afternoon.
