Good Saturday morning, friends! I hope you’re starting off your weekend in a great way. Lucky for us, a fairly nice weekend is ahead.
Mostly Sunny Saturday
Some areas of fog should be burning off this morning, which will lead to mostly sunny skies. Winds will remain rather light as well, mostly out of the west under 10 mph.
Temperatures also won’t be too bad. We should top out near 84ºF, with dew points around 53ºF during the afternoon hours, making for a pretty nice day for outdoor activities. It’ll be a great day to take care of yard work, wash the car, or just take your furry friends for a walk.
By the evening hours, temperatures will drop to around 65ºF, with some increasing cloud cover. A cold front located to our north will be swinging through, bringing with it some shower/storm chances during the overnight/very early morning hours on Sunday.
Sunday Showers Quickly Move Out, Sunshine to Return
Any precipitation is expected between midnight and 2 AM Sunday morning. However, the HRRR is placing the showers further west, and a large portion of our area could remain dry.
There is some model disagreement on timing and place. In contrast to the HRRR, the GFS predicts rain showers will be east of the I-65 corridor and at 7 PM Saturday night.
Whether it rains or not, impacts will be minimal as it should be a quick moving wave.
After those pesky early morning showers move out, Sunday should brighten up with sunny skies. It will be another beautiful day for outdoor activities as the temperature should only reach close to 80ºF. Now that the cold front will have passed, winds will then be out of the northwest tomorrow, mostly under 10 mph again.
For the overnight hours, expect mostly clear skies. These stargazing skies will help temperatures get a bit cooler, around 55ºF tomorrow night. Overall, not a bad way to end the weekend.
Cooler Temps to Start New Work Week
Sunny skies will continue to dominate the start of the work week. High pressure sets in directly over Chicago, which will help keep the clear skies.
Temperatures will also be very nice. We should top out around 75ºF, thanks to north winds up to 10 mph possible. Skies should remain clear leading into the overnight hours. Nighttime temperatures will dip to a chilly 55ºF.
Rest of the Week Outlook
Tuesday: Sunny, high 84ºF. Storms possible Tuesday night.
Wednesday: Showers and storms possible, high 86ºF.
Thursday: Showers and storms possible, high 83ºF.
Friday: Showers and storms possible, high 84ºF.
That wraps up today’s forecast. Hope you have a great Saturday and rest of the weekend! Make sure to look for the Afternoon Video Update on Facebook and the Afternoon Weather Story on Twitter/Instagram, only on @wxornotBG.
