A Dry Finish to the Weekend

After a Saturday that was stormy at times, plentiful sunshine returns for Sunday as we see a dry finish to the weekend.

Sunshine Returns Sunday

Well, we’ve waited for a bit and it has finally arrived…a day without a rain chance!

That stationary boundary that kept the rain chances in the forecast the past couple of days has finally drifted to the south and is allowing us to have a dry day or two!

This morning’s forecast surface chart. (WPC)

A small area of high pressure will begin to build in, allowing the skies to stay dry while keeping temperatures toasty. Highs should top out around 85º but with dew points close to 70º, that’ll make it feel a bit closer to around 90º under partly sunny skies.

But wait, there’s more! (Giphy)

Mostly clear skies should make for optimal viewing of the peak of the 2018 Perseid Meteor Shower and temperatures will also be comfortable. Around 70º or so at midnight before a low around 65º will make for a pretty good star (and meteor) gazing evening!

More on Monday

We’ll keep the influence of high pressure around the area for the day on Monday and that will lead to a warmer but similarly dry day.

High temperatures will approach the 90º mark with mostly sunny skies as we start the new work week. We’ll get a slight break from the humidity as well as dew points will be closer to 65º, making it feel just a touch less muggy. Temperatures overnight are back into the mid-60s under mostly clear skies.

One More Dry Day Tuesday

The broken record continues for Tuesday, as the latest trends show dry weather sticking around until around the mid-week time frame.

Temperatures will continue to be around average as highs approach 90º with mostly sunny skies overhead once again. Humidity levels will begin to creep up, however, ahead of our next chance for rain and storms. Overnight lows Tuesday will dip only to around 70º under partly cloudy skies.

Yes, you heard me. Next rain chance. Another disturbance will approach the region around Wednesday or so and give us a renewed chance for daily scattered showers and thunderstorms with highs in the upper-80s to near 90º.
